Prayers are going unanswered and then find yourself asking God , “Why?”

I try my best not to ask God why he didn't answer my prayer and instead focus on knowing that He is able and so if it never happens; then it must not have been the will of God. But often times, we don't wait on God to answer our prayers, we already have a back-up plan just in case God does not respond in the speed and manner in which we prefer. But that is not trusting that God can. Do we give ourselves time to wait on God or are we too much in a hurry to allow Him to operate in His timing on our behalf based on what is best for us?
